Pretty in Pink - Going 80's for Fall 2017
What is good Internet! It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten a chance to come on here an update the page. Life has been moving quickly here in the City, but I’ve hit a point where I can slow down and start focusing on the online part of the blog again. (By the way, you should be following on the Instagram for more daily content as I update that the most!) But today, I wanted to drop a little nugget of style inspiration for you all. This time, I wanted to take a page out of the retro playbook for this very vibrant look for fall. As we’ve all seen in the runways, and majorly for Gucci SS18, theres been a surge of period pieces- from broad shoulders, to track suits, and more. Taking that to consideration, I went and experimented with this 80’s look with a vintage jacket I found on eBay, and paired it amongst some Gucci pieces like the ss17 Hollywood forever glasses, SS16 Safari shirt, Cruise 17 Peggy platform, GG logo socks, and another eBay gem- houndstooth trousers.
Overall, the experiment was a success. As I walked along the streets of SoHO I received many compliments, mainly at the jacket, glasses, and the shoes. Which goes to show how much vintage fashion can go when it comes to styling. Moving forward, I think I will continue down the vintage path as the pieces are one of kind and will not be seen on anyone else.
So what are my tips for pulling of an 80’s look? Start with broad shoulders. Try and find blazers and jackets that give off that big shoulder look that narrow down the frame of your body. Second, study styling trends, such as the tucked in tie that I featured here. Third, go for funky accessories. The 80’s were a wild time in fashion and there were tons of experimenting going on. Try it out with some extravagant shoe or asymmetrical sunglasses. It’s worth the look!
Catch you guys later!
