“Fashion can create a dream, it can create a fantasy…fashion should be recognized-
when it touches people, and moves people. I mean, what more could you ask from art?”
– Anna Wintour
ICYMI: The brand new SAKS FIFTH AVENUE- Houston opened its pearly white gates of high fashion heaven last Thursday, April 28th and luckily, I got the chance to slip away during lunch to take a peek at the scene- well to really take a peek at the brand new Gucci boutique that came along with it! So, after fighting my way through Westheimer traffic and walking among the crowds of eager shopaholics and River Oaks moms…I found it, the fresh, out of the box, brand new, etc, etc. Gucci boutique in all it’s glory.
Now, it’s an interesting time in the luxury industry. There’s been several changes within major houses, BUT Gucci, led by Alessandro Michele, is sitting at the top of the ranks. The new Gucci today presents a different view towards new and existing consumers- an aspirational story, an eclectic and whimsical lifestyle that people buy and be part of. And that is why sales and more talks of the brand have been booming during this new era. The colors, embroidery, retro silhouettes, and powerful visuals all come together to form something symbolic- LIFE. Gucci has revitalized their world and have carefully crafted their story and merchandise in a way that represents the Gucci consumer, and in part, making them feel like they want to escape into this world. And what better way to escape- than it’s store!

The Gucci Saks boutique is the first in Texas (and probably within the southern US region) to receive Michele’s revamp of the store design. The store no longer boasts mirrored walls and gold accents, but instead, is decorated with light coral pink walls, plush velvet furniture, and riveted cases and metal work for an antique vibe. The Saks location is special as it carries some of the most sought after collection pieces that have been brought in from flagship stores such as Beverly Hills and New York.

The boutique is split up into two sections with leather-goods and cosmetics on Floor 1, and Women’s RTW on the second floor. Yes, its unfortunate that they don’t stock on menswear, (womp womp…) but don’t worry, the Gucci staff here have got you covered and can get men’s collection pieces too!

After viewing the first floor, I ventured upstairs with Enrique to view the women’s RTW collection- and all I have to say is…WOW

The team at the new Gucci did an amazing job in pulling together the best, and extremely rare pieces from Michele’s SS16 collection, Rows and rows of ruffles, lace, and cotton prints line the new racks. It’s every Gucci woman’s dream.

Overall, it’s an exciting time to be a Gucci fan. The collection has been stellar and I personally can’t wait for FW16 pieces to arrive, along with SS17. But for now, we have this. Hurry down and visit the shop. And ladies- if you see something, take it now! The rarest pieces will only be there for a limited time before heading back to flagship stores- so get it while you can (i.e. The infamous script dress worn by Beyoncé in the Formation video has been selling like hot cakes!) And men, if you can’t find something, you can always order or check out the free standing Gucci store within the mall. They too have a vast collection of RTW pieces along with new pre-fall items. Now what are you waiting for…go!!!
Until next time!
