As I sifted through my personal clothing rack of Gucci clothing, I wondered, “How far can I take this stylistically?”

The Italian fashion powerhouse has been making waves in the fashion industry with its inventive approach, which is especially evident in their recent menswear collections where genderless apparel is welcome. With that in mind, I took two looks from this past SS16 and created my own. Ever since Gucci’s reboot of their aesthetic starting with their 2015 collections, the pieces have been easily interchangeable across, collections, seasons, outfits, and even genders.

As head designer Alessandro Michele mentioned earlier this year with the move to combine men’s and women’s collections into single runway shows, the unified collection presents a multitude of opprtunities for genderless styling for young buyers, and potential new customers for the brand.

The menswear world has been constricted by so many rules, colors, and silhouettes for too long. It’s refreshing to see Gucci take on long-established gender norms, and take charge in emboldening and crafting a new perspective for men’s fashion.
