In line with their avant grade fashion, the Gucci brand has now launched an even more daring collection, this time with their new fragrance line, “The Alchemists Garden”. Creative director Alessandro Michele partnered with legendary perfumer Alberto Morillas to create distinguished scents that were inspired by special moments in Michele’s life.
The Statement Coat of Winter 2018
Photos by Katherine Hogan
When I arrived on the East Coast last year, I wasn’t really prepared for winter fashions. I have always been a Spring/Summer guy, drawn to vibrant colored fabrics, sequins, and rhinestones, but it wasn’t until this season where I started to pay more attention to winter gear. I was captivated my layers, mixing of patterns, but much more so, the resurgence of 80s fashion. In particular, one brand caught my eye and that was Marc Jacobs’ ode to 80’s haute couture. The Fall 2018 line was reminiscent of the bold silhouettes once seen at Lanvin, YSL, and Claude Montana. So, with credit card in hand and an eye set on investing in a warm coat, I headed down to Marc’s SoHo boutique and purchased the it-coat of the season (after multiple visits!).
The wool coat, which is the first exit from the MJ FW18 collection, comes in a deep vibrant red which looks so beautiful in person. With its powerful padded shoulders warmth and full-length silhouette, it is the ultimate coat to have in one’s closet. For styling, the coat makes it effortless as you can transition from day to night looks. For these photos, I wanted to do a little 80’s theme with satin overalls, an oversized dress shirt and tie, and statement glasses. But don’t fret, simple jeans and a shirt can easily go under the coat on any day out. Overall I’m pretty pleased with this new fashion staple in my wardrobe.
As the summer sets into the bright and bustling NYC, I've been inspired to explore the city by Michele's eccentric and vibrant concept of travel. You see, you don't necessarily have to hop on a plane or boat, your environment can simply change with your imagination be it a book, a simple change to an environment, or in our case, articles of clothing.
Top Picks for Accessories
So you’ve seen me peacockin’ these sunnies lately and they are by far phenomenal to wear. The Gucci Hollywood Forever collection is an impeccable trove of eyewear pieces designed and inspired by old Hollywood glam and Alessandro’s inspiration from costume design. In particular, the oversized frames in pink are my personal favorite as its a bold statement for the face. Embellished with hand applied crystals and a pink acetate frame, the glasses are a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

About A Man: RoiWilly
I first started HuesOfMan based on the idea of highlighting diversity in our world through fashion. Whether it be people, style, patterns, or colors- I always sought to include these themes through the blog. Now I'm taking it a step further by highlighting one of the few people I look to daily for fashion inspiration. Who is it? It's @RoiWilly. I discovered him on Instagram (through our love of Gucci hehe) and felt connected to his diverse sense of style and his interpretation of menswear. Read more about Will below!

A Glimpse Inside the Gucci x Gucci Ghost Launch at NYFW in NYC
Normally, you have to be a fashion journalist, a celebrity, or a major client to get into these types of events. Along with the invitation, I was notified that I'd be getting the VIP treatment, with Gucci generously paying all travel and lodging expenses. I was also told I would get to meet Trevor "Trouble" Andrew, the brain behind Gucci Ghost, one of the hottest fashion collaborations of the year....
